1. Five ideas that would make me a better photographer
-Using emotion
-Being able to stand harsh elements
-Waiting for the perfect shot
-Always think outside of the box
-A good shot can come from nowhere

2. My favorite photographers were the ones who went into the woods for shots. They had to go through countless hardships and insects just to get shots. They are very much dedicated to their work, and I think that is great.

This was my favorite photograph. It is my favorite because I know how they got the shot, and how they had to get right next to the cheetah to get it. I also like how it is making eye contact.

4. Yes, one was the rule of thirds, which is used in the shot above. The cheetah's eyes are a third from the top and a third from the side. Another was depth of field. That is also used in the short above, because the outside parts are not focused, but the cheetah is.

I like this photo because they put a lot of emphasis on the eyes, as it is the first thing you will be drawn to when you see it.



I like this one for the eyes as well, and i liked how the photographer used a smaller aperture to blur out everything behind her.



I like this photo because of the guitar. It is a prop, and it shows that she is a musician.



This photo is cool because it shows all the textures in the mans face, and they dodged and burned it too. They burned in the area outside of his face, and dodged his face slightly.



I liked this one because it uses rule of thirds and depth of field to show only the side of her face. it is an interesting angle.



I liked this photo because the texture of her skin is interesting to the eye.



I thought this was a great portrait. They used a small aperture annd got part of her torso and leg in the photo as well.



This portrait was nice because they burned in the sides to put emphasis on his face. His expression and placement of his hand is also interesting.



This photo is cool because they burned all of the area beside him, and make his hand appear like it is coming from nowhere. The texture of the skin is also cool.



This portrait is cool because of the smoke. It is interesting to look at.

I like this photo because it intersects on both of the pairs of positives and negatives. It is cool, but i feel like I was not very inventive with it, and I should have taken a more interesting picture. There is a lot of potential in positive and negative works.

To make a good portrait you must have
-A person in focus
-Interesting things around the person
-Props that show what the person is like
-And the person must catch the eye first.

2nd Nine Weeks Assignment 12

To go against lighting, you must first take a light meter reading. Then you have to go against it by making the shutter speed one or two steps faster, to create dramatic lighting. You can also do the same thing close to the subject, and then move back and take the picture.

I liked this portrait, because the landscape is interesting and your eye goes straight to the girl. I would use a fliter if i were to do it again.

If i could do this picture over again I would use a filter and burn the areas outside of the heart. I like the concept of the photo, but i think it should be printed again.

I liked this photo because it framed only the couple.



I like this frame because i think circular framing is a cool form of photography.



I think this photo is good because it goes from white walls to the beautiful outdoors through the window.



This photo is nice because it uses natural trees and houses to frame the water.



I also like this picture because it uses natural framing for the water.

I liked this picture, but it could use more contrast. If i could do it over again i would put in a filter and burn in the sides beside the hands.

This photo is cool because it uses peoples hands to make a square, and it is interesting to the eye.



This photo combines hands and feet in an interesting way, so I thought it was a good photo.



I like this photo because it uses a lot of hands to make a face, which is cool.



This photo is good because it uses a fast shutter speed to catch the water in air without any blur.



This photo is good because it captures all the textures of the hands.

I liked this photo, but if i could do it again i would burn in the sides a little more and maybe burn in the sides of his face a little.

I liked this photo from my conveying a message roll because it shows a dying plant, and that contains sadness. If i could change it at all i would get rid of the destracting background objects and burn in the sides a little more.

I liked this photo because it showed the two people being married, and it conveys happiness at their marriage.



I like this photo because it shows loneliness and sadness by making her alone in a corner.


This photo is cool because it conveys friendship through the people jumping together.

Assignment 5

I liked this photo because it used the desert, which is a mysterious looking place at night. The photographer focused on the plant, but had a large depth of field. I could use this idea by photgraphing a tree and having everything behind it show.

The word i think of when i see this photo is old-timey.
You can see this photo is old because they are old shops. It looks like a photo from the fifties or so. Everything was less money then, as you can see by the price signs. That is why i picked old-timey.

This is my favorite photo from Jim Brandenburg's 90 day journey. It uses a fast shutter speed to freeze the water, and it shows the sunset very well.

Assignment 13

Jim Brandenburg only allowed one photograph per day because he wanted to be as creative as possible. If he knew he could take more then one a day he would probably not be as creative, as he could just do it over again. It's a technique he uses that works for him, as he takes great photos.
